About us
Our research group is focusing on development, fabrication and characterisation of new biomaterials to investigate their interactions with biological systems for tissue engineering applications. We are especially interested in using natural and synthetic polymers and fabrication scaffolds with the use of additive manufacturing technologies and 3D bioprinting for tissue engineering applications.
Our group is particularly interested in the development of novel bioinks and solutions for bioprinting. We are working on extrusion-based and light-based bioprinting techniques, and starting in 2025, we will be acquiring Poland’s and Central and Eastern Europe’s first volumetric 3D bioprinter, which is incredibly thrilling.
The projects are carried out in the Centre for Advanced Technologies at Adam Mickiewicz University in the newly established Jagoda Lab.
The newly estabilished group include interdisciplinary team members with backgrounds ranging from physics, material science to cell biology. After detailed characterisation of the materials we analyze the biological impact of scaffolds with a specific architecture/surface topography for use in cell culturing, targeted growth and differentiation. Recently awarded project realized in the Lab recieved funding from National Science Centre (NCN) on realization of Sonata project: „Development and characterization of a novel bioink for fabrication of 3D printed bioartificial pulsatile prosthesis for applications in tissue engineering – PulsBioInk”. Grant is in the collaboration with University of Michigan in USA and Belvitge Biomedical Research Institute (IDIBELL) in Spain. Another grant (First Team FENG) starting in 2025 will focus on the development of a two-component hybrid bioink for 3D bioprinting vascularized constructs. This project will incorporate extensive material engineering, bioprinting techniques, and iPSC-based studies.
